We are delighted to announce the inaugural Otterpool Park Gallop; a new running event that provides a fantastic and rare opportunity to run the former Folkestone Racecourse site while taking in the wonderful views of Westenhanger Castle at Westenhanger near Hythe. With options for a one-mile family fun run, 5k and 10k, this traffic-free, fairly flat, cross-country course will take you across made up paths, grasslands and fields. The run is being hosted by Otterpool Park, a proposed new garden town that will see up to 10,000 new homes built here over the next 30 years, as well as schools, healthcare facilities and everything else a new community needs. It will be a place to lead a healthy, active and sustainable lifestyle and is set around the historic Westenhanger Castle, with more than half of the development as green spaces for sports, play, relaxation and will include five new interlinking country parks for everyone to enjoy. On Sunday 4th June, runners will get to experience running over the private land that will undergo many changes over the next few years. The race route will show runners what will feature there in the future – for example, spot where the new town centre will be just south of the lake, the new Castle Park next to Westenhanger Castle and the location of the first primary school as you run along.
