Several Harriers were in action at the weekend in a selection of Half Marathon races across the South of England.
After 6 of the 7 Kent Fitness League races Harries ladies team have a commanding lead in the league which means that they cannot now be caught in the female team standings. Many congratulations to them for winning the league once again!
The Harriers got off to a flying start in 2014 with a record 43 members taking part in the fifth event of the seven race Kent Fitness League Cross Country competition at Minnis Bay on Sunday.
Members should note that there will be no club training evenings on Tuesday 24th December,Thursday 26th December and Tuesday 31st December.
Following the relatively benign ground conditions for the first race at Sevenoaks we were treated to slightly tougher conditions for the second race at Swanley Park. Oxleas Woods looks as if it will be the most interesting and challenging yet with the 5.5 mile circuit providing a healthy mixture of uphills and downhills with some quality mud and a few fallen trees to negotiate for good measure.
Club Fees as agreed at the recent AGM are due from the 1st November. Cheques to be made payable to 'Canterbury Harriers' and marked on the reverse as a membership fee payment. Early payment would be much appreciated. If you have any recent changes to your contact details would you also please advise Andy. Thank you.
Peter Hogben recorded his third 10K race victory of the year, and his second in consecutive weeks, in an outstanding PB run in the Faversham 10K on Sunday
It was with great sadness that we learned of the death of Russell Williams on Saturday after a short illness. Russell was a longstanding and respected member of the Harriers, a stalwart of our cross country and relay teams and one who always willing to give of his time in helping out at club events and at the local park run.
Over 600 runners competed in the 14th staging of the Baileys Nissan Whitstable 10K road race organised by Canterbury Harriers on Monday May Bank Holiday morning. In sunny and warm conditions, with only light winds along the Tankerton and Hampton promenade sections, 29 athletes dipped under 40 minutes.
